War Bonnet Quilt

I had made a baby quilt or two, plus the single size one for my youngest daughter, so I was feeling pretty confident when I let my son choose what kind of quilt he would like me to make for him.
He chose the War Bonnet Quilt out of a copy of Country Handcrafts Magazine. Yikes. The only quilts I had made up till this point had square blocks, but this quilt was made up of mostly diamond shaped pieces!  I struggled through it, and I don't think it came out badly, considering my level of quilting talent. (Please excuse the camera shot, it was taken from my loft balcony to the living room floor below.)
Ten years later, my son needed his quilt to fit a bigger bed- he was married now. I had originally made it for his single bed (actually a futon), plus the quilt needed repaired because a lot of the quilt pieces had decayed to shredded fabric.
I learned after seeing this happen to a lot of my quilts, that buying quality fabric, not fabric that, when held up to the light, shows the light through it. Good fabric seems to hold up a whole lot longer, I've learned. It will take me a few more quilts to realize this, though.
So here is the finished product, repaired and enlarged:
